Qatar lose to Palestine in Arab Women Football Championship

DOHA, April 17, 2014 The Qatari women football team suffered a 0-4 defeat against Palestine in the Arab Women Football Championship began in Jordan on Tuesday. The event features the participation of four teams including Qatar, Palestine, Bahrain and hosts Jordan. On Thursday, Qatar will take on Jordan while Bahrain will clash against Palestine.

Al Rayyan defeat Qatar SC in Women Handball League

The tournament is organised by the Qatar Women’s Sport Committee in cooperation with the Qatar Handball Association. Qatar wins International Women Handball Championship Title

DOHA by Rabab Sharf El-Dian Qatar’s women handball team confidently won the title of the prestigious International Women Handball Championship 2014 , following their deserving 40-8 victory over Nepalese counterparts in the final match held at the Aspire Zone on Friday. Friday’s convincing victory over Nepal was the third consecutive win for the women handball team who collected the full points and claimed the title , followig undefeated campaign in the championship. Mrs. Ahlam Al Mane, the President of Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) crowned the Qatar women handball team and handed over them the championship trophy and medals in festive sport scene. In a post- event release on Friday, the QWSC President hailed the event success and appreciated the high technical performance showed by the women national handball team. She confirmed that the QWSC strategy is aimed at preparing strong women teams able to compete at both regional and international levels. Mrs. Al-Mane also unveiled that the QWSC is now implementing a range of ambitious plans and productive vision to develop the women sport movement among all categories.

DOHA by Rabab Sharf El-Dian Qatar’s women handball team kept their winning streak in the ongoing second International Women Handball Championship 2014 with a convincing 32/17 victory over Pakistani counterparts in their second match held at the Aspire Zone on Thursday. Qatari women handball team was the dominant side during the match, they made a widely- praised performance, lived-up to the expectations to end the match 32-17. Thursday’s victory braced Qatar’s women handball team to be closer to the championship title. In the second playoff, Nepal women team recorded a deserving 27-16 victory over Kuwaiti counterparts. HE Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the president of Kuwait Women’s Sports Federation, Mrs. Sahar Al Obad, Deputy President of Arab Union for Voluntary Work, Mrs. Ahlam Al Mane, the President of Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) beside the delegates attended Thursday’s events.

Qatar opens International Handball campaign with victory

DOHA by Rabab Sharf El-Dian Qatar’s women handball team opened their campaign in the prestigious second International Handball Championship (women) 2014 with a convincing 34-8 victory over Kuwaiti counterparts in the opening match held the Aspire Zone on Wednesday. Qatari women handball team was the dominant side over their counterparts along the match, they made a widely- praised performance lived-up to the expectations to end the match 34-8 . Senior women sport officials including HE Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the president of Kuwait Women’s Sports Federation, Mrs. Sahar Al Obad, Deputy President of Arab Union for Voluntary Work, Mrs. Ahlam Al Mane, the President of Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) attended the championship opening round. According to the championship match table , hosts Qatar women team will lock horns against Pakistan on Thursday , followed by Nepal who will shake hands with Kuwait in the second playoff. The prestigious three-day Championship is organized by the Qatar Women Sport Committee (QOC) in collaboration with Qatar Handball Association (QHA).

Qatari people celebrate National Sport Day

DOHA, February 12, 2014 – The Qatari people including citizens, residents, government, non-government organizations, companies, Ministries, government bodies, sport federations , clubs , social centers, community individuals celebrated the third edition of Qatar National Sport Day across the country in a festive sport scene on Tuesday. The county turned into a huge and exceptional sport carnival on Tuesday, packed with several sport programs and activities organized by Ministries, government authorities, organizations, public and private institutions, sport federations, clubs and social centers for different age groups including men, women, youth and kids. Qatari citizens and residents marked the National Sport Day in several locations across the country including, Katara, Aspire Zone, Doha Corniche, Al Rifa street, Museum of Islamic Art Park and the sport facilities. Multiple water sport events were staged for public at the Doha cornice on Tuesday, including rowing, sailing beside several sport events like football, handball, volleyball, shooting, table-Tennis, tennis and basketball were held at the QOC Sport Village on Tuesday. In Tuesday’s program, the Qatar Olympic Committee organized Traditional Shawaheef Rowing Championship on the occasion of the Country’s National Sport Day with a total prize money reached QR 4.000.000, where 10 teams, comprising elite rowing sporting amateurs and pioneers competed for a 3 kilometers distance on the Sea. Likewise, the QOC organized the “ Befit Contest” – weigh losing contest - in collaboration with the Fitness and Beauty Center at the QOC Sport Village near the Post Office Building. n a post-event release, Mr. Faisal Saleh Al Mansouri, Director of Public Relations and Marketing at the QOC said the Sport Village featured an overwhelming response from all age groups especially the children who enjoyed a nice sporting day. “ Multiple sport events including equestrian, volleyball, tennis, table-tennis, football, shooting, handball, basketball beside health zone tent were allocated for all participants during the prestigious day” said Al Mansour. The inaugural National Sport Day (NSD) edition was celebrated earlier in February 2012 , following the issuance of the Supreme Emiri Decree no (80) for the year 2011 which states Tuesday in the second week of February every year as a National Sport Day (official holiday with paid salary) . All sport facilities, stadiums, playgrounds and indoor halls across the country opened their gates for a public sport exercise, the country will change into a huge sport arena, giving opportunity to all age groups to practicing sport in a festive scene, also reflecting Qatar’s compliance to enhance the role of sport for human life.

Al Sadd Opens Women Football League with Victory

DOHA, by Rabab Sharf El-Dian Al Sadd SC made an impressive performance to defeat Al Ahli SC in the opening round match of the prestigious Qatar’s Women Football League 2013-2014 at Omar bin Khattab School playground on Sunday. Al Sadd ladies team was the better and dominant side in the game, they showed widely-praised performance and netted the first goal in the 8th minute to end the first half 1-0. In the second half, Al Ahli made several attempts to equalize , but Al Sadd squad kept their strong performance and added three goals to lead the match 4-0 until the final whistle. Sunday’s victory braced Al Sadd team to collect three points. The match was officiated by referees, Lubna Ibrahim, Najla Al-Aref, Madiha Kinani, Haya Al Shamari, Nabeela Amer ( match coordinator).

Qatar Women Football League To Begin On December 29

DOHA, December 25, 2013- The Qatar Women Football League in its third edition will begin on December 29. Al Sadd will take on Al Rayyan in the opening match. The tournament features the participation of 7 teams including Al Gharafa, Al Arabi, Qatar, Al Sadd, Al Khor, Al Ahli and Al Rayyan. In a press conference held on Tuesday, the Qatar Women Sports Committee (QWSC) President Ahlam Al Mana said that the QWSC has completed all technical and administrative arrangements for the event. Al Mana stressed that the third women football league will continue until April 09.

Qatar Women Sports Committee Organizes Girls Football Festival

by Rabab Sharf El-Dian The Qatar Women Sports Committee in cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Doha and the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee organize a girls football festival on 22 December 2013 at Al Sadd Stadium. 160 girls between the age of 10-14 years from 10 different schools participated in the event. The festival was attended by Ahlam Salem Al Mana, president of Qatar Women Sports Committee and German Ambassador to the State of Qatar, HE Angelika Storz-Chakarji. Birgit Prinz a former German national team player and FIFA Football Ambassador, also attended the festival. During her career she has played 214 games and scored 128 goals for the German national team. Ahlam Salem Al Mana, stated: "Sport is important for the young girls to take care of their health and get pride. When I was young I did not get the opportunity to do sport so I want every young Qatari to get a chance participate in the sports activities "

QWSC to organise Women Football Festival

Doha by Rabab Sharf El-Dian Al Sadd club women team confidently won the title of QFA Futsal Championship 2013 (women) , following a convincing 5-4 victory over Lekhowiya in the final match held at the women indoor in the Aspire Dome on Saturday. HE Sheikha Naeema Al Ahmed Al Subah, the President of WAFF Women Committee handed over the championship trophy and QR 15.000 prize money to the winners, Al Sadd women team in a festive scene. WAFF Women Committee Meeting gets underway

DOHA by rabab Sherf El-Dian HE Sheikha Naeema Al Ahmed Al Subah, the President of Women Committee at the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) confirmed that the committee is doing extensive effort to promote the women football technical level in West Asia, addressed the opening session of the third WAFF Women Committee meeting in Doha on Friday. The WAFF Women Committee President appreciated the effort of the committee members for developing the game and seeking the excellence. She also gave letter of thanks to the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) for hosting the meeting in Doha. The third WAFF Women Committee meeting is scheduled to discuss a range of topics including the requirements for upcoming stage beside the committee’s calendar to develop the women football in West Asia. From his part, Mr. Ahmed Al Boenain, the QFA board member gave a welcome speech to the WAFF Women committee members and WAFF Executive Board members for attending the meeting here in Doha.

DOHA, October 10, 2013 – Qatar’s women handball team got a warm reception from the Qatar Handball Association and the Qatar Women Sport committee at Doha Airport , that in recognition of their deserving win of the title of Inaugural GCC Women Handball Championship 2013 held in Kuwait recently. Mr. Ahmed Al Shaabi, the President of Qatar Handball Association (QHA), Ahlam Al Mane, the President of Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC), Mohammed Al Mullah the QHA Assistant-Secretary General , Luluwa Al Marri, the QWSC Secretary General and Maha Abdulgabar, the QWSC Assistant-Secretary General received the GCC Champions in a festive scene at Doha Airport. Qatar women handball team confidently won the first place overall in the prestigious event , following four victories over Oman, UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain respectively, as Oman managed in the second place and the bronze medal went to Bahrain. The international referee Hassan Najm and the international instructor Sherif Hamadi delivered the lectures of the two training courses. Qatar Women Basketball Team Lose To Indonesia In Islamic Solidarity Games

PALEMBANG, Indonesia, September 19, 2013-The Qatari Women Basketball Team suffered a 83-28 defeat against their Indonesian counterparts on Wednesday in the 3rd edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games being held Palembang, Indonesia until October 01, 2013. Earlier this week, the Qatari team suffered two consecutive defeats against Egypt and hosts Indonesia. The Qatari team will play their last match at the Games against Egypt on Thursday. The women’s basketball competitions will be concluded on Friday. The event is organized by the Islamic Solidarity Games Federation (ISSF) with participation of the member states of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation. A total of 55 countries are taking part at the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games. They are competing in 13 sports including; athletics, badminton, basketball, football, weightlifting, karate, archery, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, wushu and swimming. The state of Qatar is participating in six sports including athletics, Archery, Basketball, Volleyball, Karate and Taekwondo.

QWSC Volleyball Refereeing Course Begins

DOHA, September 16, 2013- by Rabab Sharf El-Din The Volleyball Refereeing Course organised by the Qatar Women’s Sports Committee (QWSC) in cooperation with the Qatar Volleyball Association began at Aspire Zone on Sunday. The international referee Hassan Najm and the international instructor Sherif Hamadi are delivering the lectures of the training course. The course features the participation of physical education teachers as well as volleyball coaches and referees . The QWSC Assistant Secretary General Maha Al Abduljabar attended the course opening session and welcomed the two instructors on Sunday. Al Abduljabar stressed that the course aims to develop the national volleyball coaches and referees before the beginning of the new sports season.

Qatar Girls Team To Participate In Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships

DOHA, August 28, 2013- by Rabab Sharf El-Din The Qatari girls table tennis team will participate in the 19th Asian Junior And Cadet Championships to be held in Doha from August 30 to September 03, 2013. Ms. Nawal Al-Dosari said that the Qatari girls team includes Kholoud Abdelredha, Hassa Al Hamad, Al Anoud Al Safar and Shouq Ali. On the other hand, the Qatari girls volleyball team will participate at the second edition of the GCC Volleyball Championship to be held in Muscat, Oman in November 2013. The Qatari team will hold a training camp in Poland in preparation for the GCC event.

The prestigious event was organized by the Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) under the supervision of Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) . The two-day event brought together 10 local teams distributed in two groups , A includes Qatar’s women senior team (A), Qatar’s women junior team (B), Trikwaz, QB hopes and Lady Jaguar, as group B includes Qatar women senior team (B), Qatar women junior team (A), Lady Pantras, Blue team and XQ team. Qatar Women Sport Committee President, Mrs. Ahlam Al Mane appreciated the QBF contributive effort in the event , that came in compliance with the QWSC strategy to support the national teams.

QWSC Women Football Coaching Course Kicks Off

DOHA, May 25, 2013- The Women Football Coaching Course (D Level) organised by the Qatar Women’s Sports Committee (QWSC) under supervision of the Qatar Football Association kicked off on Friday. The course comes in light of the QWSC plan to develop the women football in the state of Qatar. The theoretical lectures are held at the QWSC headquarters while the practical training sessions will be staged at Omer bin Al-Khatab Primary Independent School. Mr. Yousef Ahmad, the Course Key Lecturer briefed the trainees on coaching mission, coaching duties, coaching requirement, coaching methodology, performance factors, communication factors, team building and theoretical performance.

DOHA, by Rabab Sharf El-Dian The Qatar Women’s Sports Committee signed the IWG’s Brighton Declaration – an agreement put in place urging governments, public authorities, businesses and any other relevant organisations to promote, develop and support women’s sport on Wednesday. The signing ceremony was held at Doha Hilton Hotel on the sidelines of the IWG annual meeting ahead of next year’s world conference on Women and Sport in Helsinki. His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) attended the signing ceremony where Mrs. Ahlam Al-Mana, QWSC Chairperson and Ms. Raija Mattila, Chairperson of the IWG delegation signed the declaration. To date, more than 300 organizations worldwide have been moved to endorse the Brighton Declaration on Women and Sport. The Declaration is meant to complement all sporting, local, national and international charters, laws, codes, rules and regulations relating to women or sport. On the other hand, Qatar held United Arab Emirates to a goalless draw in the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship for West Asia at the Al-Arabi Stadium on Wednesday.

Doha Ms. Ahlam Salem Mubarak Al Mana, President of the Qatar Women’s Sport Committee, has been selected by the IOC Women and Sport Commission as one of the recipients of the 2013 IOC Women and Sport Trophy Awards. The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has been informed of the decision by a letter from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in which Ms. Al Mana is invited to attend the awards ceremony on July 1, 2013 at the Lausanne Palace Hotel in Switzerland. His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General of the Olympic Committee congratulated Ms. Al Mana on being granted this important award which reflects her contribution in the valuable efforts of the Qatar Women’s Sport Committee towards promoting sport among women in Qatar in order to enable them playing a much bigger role in society, and widen their participation in physical and sports activities. Doha by Raba Sharf El-Din The 3rd GCC Women Sport Games came to an end in Manama, Bahrain on Wednesday. Qatar occupied the second place with 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. Bahrain claimed the title while Oman settled in the third place. On Wednesday, the Qatari shooting team including Al-Danah Saad, Hanadi Mubarak and Nasrah Mohammad won the gold medal of 25m pistol event. Moreover, Qatar’s Nasrah Mohammad clinched the gold medal of individuals event. Al-Danah Saad of Qatar finished second while Sumaya Saleh of UAE occupied the third place. QWSC unveils Women’s Football Strategy

The QWSC Chairperson Ahlam Al-Mana said that the QWSC is keen to develop the Qatari Women’s Football through organizing the Qatari women’s football league in cooperation with the Qatar Football Association. Al-Mana added that Qatar will host the 2013 West Asian Girls Football Championship in April. The tournament will feature the participation of Jordan, Palestine, Bahrain, UAE and Qatar. “The Qatari women’s football team will participate in the GCC Football tournament to be held in Bahrain in April 2013” said Ahlam Al-Mana. DOHA, January 28, 2013 by Rabab Sharf El-Dian The Qatar Women’s Sports Committee (QWSC) has intensified its preparations for the second edition of the National Sport Day (NSD) to be held on Tuesday, 12 February, 2013. Ahlam Al-Mana, the QWSC chairperson stressed that the QWSC will organise various sports activities for women and children including basketball, volleyball, football and handball competitions. Lolwa Al-Marri, the QWSC Secretary General said that the NSD events will be held in cooperation with the Qatar Taekwondo Federation, the Qatar Association of Athletics Federation, the Supreme Council of Health and the General Authority for Minors Affairs. The National Sport Day is a pioneer initiative adopted by HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent who issued the Emiri Decree No. 80 for the year 2011 on 06 December 2011, concerning the State ’s National Sports Day. The Decree states that Tuesday in the second week of February each year will be the State’s National Sports Day.

FIFA women’s coaching course opens

DOHA, 18 May, 2012 by Rabab Sharf El-Dian Qatar’s Women inaugural Handball League 2012 organised by the Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) in cooperation with the Qatar Handball Association kicked off successfully at Ladies Sport Hall in Aspire Dome on Wednesday. As per the QWSC program, the prestigious event brings together four teams including Al-Sadd, Al-Rayyan, Qatar and Al-Onabi who regularly compete on Wednesday in each week. In Wednesday’s opening round , Al-Sadd recorded a hard-fought 15-13 victory over Qatar SC and Al-Onabi defeated Al-Rayyan 14-9 in the second playoff. In the third encounter, Al-Onabi team outclassed Al-Sadd 10-6 and Qatar SC thrashed Al-Rayyan 15-7 in the fourth match.

QWSC Inaugural Women basketball League kicks off

Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) announced the organization of its inaugural Women Basketball League Which kicked off Saturday and will last until 2 June amid participation of 10 teams. At a pre-league news conference held earlier on Saturday senior QWSC officials including Lulua Al-Marri the QWSC Secretary General Saleha Al-Nuaimi, the Director of Qatar Women basketball team Sheikha Al-Qahatani , the QWSC Financial Manager beside officials from Q-Sport Company unveiled the detaila of the event. According to the organizers, some prize money is allocated for the top three winners, where the first place winners will get QR 10.000 as runner-up will receive QR 4.000 will go to the third place winners beside other personal awards for the best senior and Junior players in the League. Mrs. Lulua Al-Marri the QWSC Secretary General confirmed that the league will develop the game in Qatar.

ABU DHABi, UAE, 07 April, 2012 – A senior delegation from Qatar’s women Sport Committee (QWSC) is scheduled to will participate in Abu Dhabi’s International Conference on Women’s Sports will be held in the 10th and 11th of April 2012 under the generous patronage of H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the UAE General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood. The conference will also be held under the kind care and support of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the board of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Ladies Sports. The conference will be organized by the Academy of H.H Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak for Ladies’ Sports, and will be held under the slogan “Sports: Health & Happiness”. The conference will take place at the Emirates Palace Hotel on the 10th and 11th of April 2012 and will be attended by prominent local, regional and international sport personalities related to women’s sports, and will be the first of its kind in the Middle East. Qataris celebrate National Sports Day

DOHA, 14 February 2012 Qatar’s National Sports Day (NSD) events began Tuesday at 9 a.m. on the Corniche with a sport walks organised by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). Dignitaries and all segments of the society, citizens and residents, participated in the walks, which started from Islamic Museum Park to Oryx Area and From Sheraton Park to Oryx Area. The Olympic Committee made great preparations to make the country a sports ground to accommodate all citizens and residents of different ages and from all parties in the State. In this context, the committee opened sports fields and facilities across the country to the public to allow them practicing sports. In addition, the QOC has prepared a big tent for VIP Guests and another tent for electronic shooting competitions in coordination with the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation in the Yard beside General Post Office. NSD’s festivities brought together thousands of people from local community individuals including, men, youth, women and kids who engaged in several sports activities. Sport plays a significant role in Qatar community, firstly it will safeguard the society members against some fatal diseases, including diabetics, heart attacks, Obesity and overweight , furthermore it act as integral part of the people’s daily health life. DOHA, 29 January 2012 An official women sport delegation under the supervision of Qatar’s Women Sport committee (QWSC) will head to UAE on Tuesday to participate in the inaugural Arab Women Sports Tournament will take place from 2 – 12 February 2012 at the Sharjah Ladies Club in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The prestigious tournament is organized under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, the wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, the Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and the Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club. According to organizers, the event will bring together women sport teams from 22 Arab nations to compete in several sports including basketball, volleyball, table tennis, shooting and several athletics disciplines. Around 27 Qatari women athletes beside 20 members from administrative, technical and medical teams of QWSC will represent the country in five sports, basketball, volleyball, athletics, shooting and table tennis. A technical course for Women’s Football Coaching organized by the Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) concluded successfully at Retaj Al Rayyan hotel on Tuesday. Around 15 participants representing QSWC coaches, physical education teachers alongside with 12 trainees from Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, UAE, Bahrain and Lebanon took part in the course. DOHA, 16 July 2010 – The training course for Women Referees in Futsal organized by Qatar Women Sport Committee and Qatar Football Association concluded successfully at the Aspire Zone on Thursday. Around 40 local referees took part in the 4-day program, where they received theoretical lectures on the game alongside series of practical on-field sessions. At the closing session on Thursday, the QWSC chief, Mrs. Ahlam Al Mana distributed appreciation certificates among the participants and hailed the productive outcome of the course. Al Mane said that the percentage of participation in the course had exceeded the expectations, a matter that proved the great role women are playing in the development of country’s sport career. Mrs. Al Mana also announced that the upcoming new sport season 2010 -2011 will feature inaugural Women Football League at the GCC level, Mrs. Al Mana added that QWSC is constantly evolving thanks to great support from the officials on the sport in the country, especially the Qatar Football Association continued to support all activities of the Committee relating to football.

DOHA, 11 June 2010 – Mrs. Ahlam Al Mane, the president of Qatar Women Sport Committee announced that QWSC is due to take part in a number of regional and international sport events in summer next year.
Speaking to local reporters on Tuesday, Mrs. Al Mane confirmed that a senior QWSC delegate will head to IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland to attend the International Women and Sport Commission’s meetings on June 22.

Kuwait, 05 June 2010- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) women sports committee has approved holding the Gulf women basketball and volleyball champion on annual basis in line with the men events.
The eighth meeting of the committee which gathered on Friday representatives of four out of the five members of the committee agreed that the State of Kuwait will host the first Gulf women volleyball champion league in October while the basketball event will be held in Qatar in 2011. “The meeting also approved holding the table tennis championship in Al-Sharjah, United Arab Emirates in 2011” chairperson of the committee Sheikha Na'ima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah reported. "The conferees agreed to hold the second Gulf women games, originally slated to take place in the UAE earlier this year, in Abu-Dhabi next March while Kingdom of Bahrain will play host to third Gulf women games in 2013," Sheikha Na'ima revealed.

Women sport delegation ends fruitful USA visit

DOHA, November 1, 2009 – A Qatari women delegation headed by Mr. Ahlam Al Mane, president of Qatar Women Sports Commission concluded a fruitful visit to USA recently, where they successfully participated in the international visitor programme took place from September 24 until October 18 there.
The progrmme was staged in cooperation with USA embassy all across the world in attempt to exchange visits and boost methods of cooperation.
QWSC delegation to USA was headed by Ahlam Al Mane, accompanied by Maha Al – Abdulgbar QWSC member and official in charge of women Taekwondo sport and Salha Al Nuaimi, director of women basketball team.
During the USA visit , QWSC delegation met with women officials at the White House council in Washington ,
where they were briefed about the federal initiatives related with development of women sport and health .
QWSC delegate also recorded fruitful tours into a number of women’s sport facilities, social institutions, schools, research and training centers.

Women’s basketball team to resume training after Ramadan

DOHA, September 14, 2009 – Qatar’s women basketball team will resume their training session after the holy month of Ramadan at the indoor hall of Qatar Women Sport Committee. The training will be staged under the supervision of Qatar Coach Maysa Yousif, and with participation of 20 players. Ms. Salha Al Abdullah, the team administrator, said the training will come in light of Qatar’s preparations for the GCC Women Basketball Championship in Abu Dhabi, UAE later in March 2010.

Al Enabi wins basketball event in QWSC festival

DOHA, July 21, 2009- The inaugural summer sports festival of Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) continued at the QWSC indoor hall in Aspire, on Monday. The festival witnesses participation of 180 players representing the Qatari women national teams of handball, basketball, volleyball, football, table tennis and swimming. The participating players are being divided into teams to include players from all national teams. In Monday's competitions, El Enabi team won the basketball competition that featured 8 teams. To conclude on Wednesday, the festival comes in light of the new strategy of the QWSC under the leadership of Mrs. Ahlam Al Manea to strengthen the friendship between players of the national teams.

Ahlam Al Manea lauds visit of Al Sharjah ladies clubs delegation

UN Secretary General Advisor meets QWSC chief

DOHA, June 3, 2009 – Mrs. Ahlam Al Mane, president of Qatar Women Sport Committee, on Tuesday met with Mr. Wilfred Lemke, the visiting Special Advisor of the UN Secretary General on Sport for Development and Peace.Talks during the meeting dealt with issues pertaining to Qatari women sport movement, beside the programmes and plans requested by UN for boosting women sport career in the country.Lemke stressed the importance of women participation in special Olympics, as he voiced support to integrate people with special need ( girls category) into the domestic sport community and assist them to compete at regional and international levels Mr. Al Mane briefed the visiting UN official on QWSC new strategy to improve the skills and performance of the country's women sport teams.The meeting was attended by Khawla Khalid, Head of Foreign Relations Section of QOC, Louis F. QWSC unveils USA hoopsters training mission

DOHA, May 31, 2009 – Qatar Women Sport Committee held a press conference with the visiting USA basketball players and gold medalists at the Beijing Olympics, Sam Berkner and Carla Maggy on Saturday. QWSC chief, Ahlam Al Manae welcomed the visitors and praised the initiative of the USA Embassy in Doha, for selecting the two best USA basketball players to visit the country to train the Qatar national teams (men and women). Mrs. Al Manae said the step comes in the light of QWSC strategy to boost women sport, through exchange of sport visits and experiences with different countries of the world. Al Manae also confirmed that the two Americans visit to Doha embodies the fruitful cooperation between the Qatar Olympic Committee and the American Embassy in Qatar. On their side, the two hoopsters, Sam Berkner and Carla Maggy reaffirmed their readiness to contribute positively in training the young generation and improving their skills in the sport.

QWSC training course concludes

DOHA, May 07, 2009 – The sport training course titled "We are coaches" for Qatari women organized by the Qatar Women Sport Committee in cooperation with Coaching Association of Canada came to an end on Wednesday . Canada's Jillian Dimirs and the BHD student Mary Beer Chary delivered the lectures and conducted the workshop for trainees. The ten–day course which took at the Aspire Zone featured 47 women, including sport education teachers, coaches of women national teams. Mrs. Maha Al Abdul-Jabbar, QWSC Assistant Secretary General distributed certificates to participating teachers and coaches and handed over QWSC Shields to the two Canadian lecturers.
